                                                            DAY TRIPS

For Tarangile National park day trip

We will collect you from your hotel and following a 2 - 3 hour drive, you will arrive at the Tarangire National Park. In this region in Tanzania, Hemmingway often went on big game hunting safaris. After the formation of the national parks in 1970, they turned the seasonal marshes and the endless savannah that one sees today into, once again, profitable hunting grounds. Today however, cameras thankfully have replaced the elephant guns. The Tarangire National Park has the highest density of elephants in North - Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round in which the herds often can reach an impressive number of 300 animals. The Tarangire River has water all year round and during the dry season, between July and October, many animals from the surrounding areas come to the river for drinking. If you visit the park during the dry season, you will witness an unforgettable natural wonder as you can observe wonderful creatures such as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests and zebras as well as various types of antelopes and gazelles and with a little luck, you can also spot a python! This area is during the dry season also a haven for bird watchers with over 550 different species including the Masai Ostrich -the world largest bird. Around lunchtime, you will stop at a suitable picnic place before the afternoon is dedicated to more wildlife watching. Before sunset, you will be taken either to your hotel or to the airport.

TWO DAYS - NGORONGORO

 Day 1 Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park

 

We will collect you in the morning from your hotel and take you to the Lake Manyara National Park. This park offers areas of dense woodland in which the long tailed Guenon monkeys as well as baboons, antelopes, gazelles and approximately 500 elephants live. The Manyara National Park is also known for its lions that like to lounge around in trees - this behaviour is not common among big cats and makes for quite a sight. After a picnic at midday in the park, the tour continues with more chances to observe these fantastic animals. In the afternoon, you will leave the national park and camp at a campsite for the night. Day 2 Lake Manyara National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Arusha

After breakfast, your safari continues with a trip to the Ngorongoro Crater. This is the world's largest caldera - a feature formed by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption. It is approximately 18 km in diameter and home to an estimated 25000 mammals. The caldera is truly amazing and more impressive when you have reached the crater floor and had a chance to look around you, you will realize how breathtaking it is. Here, in a relatively small area (in African terms), you find practically the complete cross section of East African wildlife. Alongside elephants, zebras, wildebeests and buffalos, you will find an array of antelopes and gazelles as well as hippopotamus, warthogs and hyenas. There is also a very good chance that you will see leopards, lions and the black rhino, which unfortunately is threatened with extinction. After lunch, there will be more time for wildlife spotting before it is time to leave the Ngorongoro Crater and return to Arusha. Breakfast; Lunch

THREE DAYS- LAKE MANYARA

      This 3-day camping safari offers you the chance to watch a wide variety of wildlife amongst some of the most varied landscapes. Not only will you see parts of the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks but also the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. 

       Day 1 Arusha - Tarangire National Park 

       In the morning, you will be collected from your hotel and will be taken to Tarangire National Park. The Tangire National Park with its endless tree savannah and seasonal marshes is home to the largest elephant herds in the North of Tanzania; with over 4000 at the last count, it takes some beating. In the national park, you will also be able to watch giraffes, buffalos, lions, zebras, gnus and different types of antelopes and gazelles. Upon your arrival at the park, your driver will open the roof of the vehicle and the extensive wildlife watch can begin. After having lunch at a picnic spot, you will have more time in the afternoon to see more of this amazing and beautiful park. Late in the afternoon, you will leave Tarangire National Park and you will stay for the night in tents at a nearby campsite. Lunch; Dinner

     Day 2 Tarangire National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area 

      After an early start, you will drive pass the Rift Valley (Africa's graben fault) up to the cooler regions of the crater uplands. The Ngorongoro Crater is almost 600m deep and in this massive caldera, you will find an amazing variety of animals. Alongside the "big five" (elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards and rhinoceros), you will find virtually all of the animals that can be found in the entire East African savannah. At a chosen picnic spot, you will have lunch and the rest of the afternoon will be devoted to more wildlife watching. In the afternoon, you will leave the crater and you will drive to the campsite, which is situated directly on the craters edge and offers fantastic evening views across the crater.       Day 3 Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Lake Manyara National Park - Arusha 

      Early birds can enjoy watching the sunrise over the Ngorongoro Crater - something that should not be missed and is well worth getting up for. After breakfast, you will leave the crater highlands and continue the "Northern Circuits" tour to the next national park in Tanzania. Lake Manyara National Park is one of the smaller parks in Tanzania and covers an area from the northwestern edge of the lake and a large proportion of the lake itself. The lake is the seasonal home to thousands of flamingos, pelicans and more than one hundred other types of birds. On the partly forested edges, you will get the chance to watch the proud elephants with their impressive tusks searching for food and doing their daily business. You will also be able to see giraffes, buffaloes, gazelles, antelopes, baboons, and last but not least, the famous tree climbing lions. After an intensive wildlife tour, it will be time to leave the national park and return to Arusha. Breakfast; Lunch
